No matter what stage of life I’m in, I’ve learned that there are 4 things I need to make time for in order to have the most successful day.

  1. Taking care of my body—For me this means getting ready and physical exercise. I may only brush my hair and put on chapstick, but it’s important for me to put time into how I look. When I’m dressed I feel presentable, which allows me to have more confidence. I’m still working on being better with workouts, but moving my body consistently for at least 30 minutes every morning helps clear my mind & keeps me healthy.
  2. Conversation— Conversation is so important for our well being. Talking to a friend, colleague or family member helps support healthy relationships. Creating relationships are what life is all about and time needs to be put into spending time with those closest to you.
  3. Service— I feel so much joy in serving others. It can be as simple as leaving a love note in the boys’ lunch or checking on a neighbor. When I’m focused on others, I am less focused on self which helps keep life and it’s problems in perspective.
  4. Prayer— This is hands down the most important part of our family’s day. I start talking to God from the moment I wake up and all throughout the day. Prayer helps me stay focused and gives me strength. It also allows reflection of blessings and makes things seem a lot less overwhelming on more difficult days.

What steps have you found helpful in making the most of everyday?
