5 Ways to Improve Your Self Image

You’re looking at a girl who used to be the most self conscious person on the planet. In college I was really shy and a lot of it had to do with how I viewed myself. I felt like I was fat, I thought my nose was too big and I hated the way my hair looked. I honestly can’t tell you when it all changed for me, but I do know that feeling confident had nothing to do with my outward appearance. My boost in confidence came from within as I realized who I was on the inside.

5 Ways to Improve Your Self Image

1.Don’t Compare Yourself to Others.

It’s easy to spend time too much time idolizing what other people are doing especially on social media. But comparison is the thief of joy & jealousy its partner in crime. There is enough beauty in the world for us all to have some. Be you. Replace jealousy with respect. And never let comparison get the best of you.

2. Surround Yourself With Good People

Good friends accept us, uplift us and love us. Step away from someone who puts you down, drains your energy or takes advantage of you. Focus your love, time and attention on the people that value you the most.

3. Exercise

Some days I feel like I can’t find the time between kids and activities, but everything seems SO much better when I do. Being fit and healthy will change the way you feel.

4. Spend Less Time on Yourself & More Time on Others

When you serve and support those around you, it makes you feel uplifted and valued. You also realize that maybe some of your problems aren’t so bad in comparison to what someone might be going through and you can fill your heart and time satisfying the needs of others through service.

5. Know Your Worth

Our true value doesn’t lie in our looks or abilities but in our identity as a child of God.

“He calls me beautiful one” -Songs of Solomon 2:1-17

“For you are God’s masterpiece created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for you to do” -Ephesians 2:10

“She is more precious than Rubies” -Proverbs 3:15
